The summer of 1977 started the tradition of the biggest rock and roll artists coming to Ibiza to play live. It began with Eric Clapton, but his famous 1977 concert almost didn’t take place concert because almost ended up shipwrecked.
he former Cream guitarist was holidaying on the Costa Azul a couple of days before his Ibiza concert. He was accompanied by Patty Boyd, ex-wife of his ex-friend George Harrison, who Clapton would end up marrying in 1979, after making peace with the great ex-Beatle.
He was also accompanied by his musicians, their partners, and several friends. A storm surprised them when they set sail for Ibiza. It was the authentic journey from hell and afterwards Clapton decided that women would never travel again on his tours.
